Students at the centre of the conversation for R U OK Day!

R U OK Day is a public charity that encourages people to start a conversation and stay connected that can help loved ones and strangers get through difficult parts of their lives.

R U OK? contributes to suicide prevention efforts by encouraging people to invest more of their time to reach out to friends, family and loved ones- to be alert of those around them, Have a conversation if they do see signs of distress and get them the right connections before they reach crisis mode.

But do the students here at AFTRS know how to start the conversation?

Digital producer Josh asked the students around the campus about how are they going to reach and ask R U OK?

” Today I’ll be checking in on my friends by giving them a big hug. ” One student told Josh.

Another student told josh “I’ve got lots of friends overseas so I’m going to use this day to slide into some Dms and ask how they are doing” .

Check out what other students around AFTRS had to say about starting the conversations.
