SLEEP HEALTH FOR STUDENTS

An important thing for student’s to know!

The Impact of Sleep on Learning and Memory.
Sleep is as important for good health as diet and exercise. It improves your ability to learn, memorize, retain, recall, and use new knowledge to solve problems creatively.

What are the health impacts of not getting enough sleep?

Not getting enough quality sleep regularly raises the risk of many diseases and disorders. These range from heart disease and stroke to obesity and dementia.

Sleep is not a throwaway thing—it’s a biological necessity!

There’s more to good sleep than just the hours spent in bed. Healthy sleep encompasses three major things, how much sleep you get, sleep quality—that you get uninterrupted and refreshing sleep and maintaining a consistent sleep schedule.

How much sleep should students be having?
Adults need at least seven hours of sleep per night to feel rested. Teenagers require a bit more, between eight to ten hours. Young adults (18 to 25 years) require between seven to nine hours.
