Embracing the Chill, My Dive into Contrast Therapy

Ever wondered why people plunge into icy baths after a steaming sauna? From Ancient Roman bathhouses to modern wellness trends, contrast therapy is back.  

It’s a recovery technique that alternates exposure to hot and cold.  The hot promotes blood flow, the cold constricts blood vessels reducing inflammation and swelling. It’s a push and pull effect. It’s not just for athletes, we can all use it to relieve joint pain and stiffness and support overall wellness.

On a chilly night in Perth, I gave it a go and found you need courage to take that icy plunge after being embraced by the heat. But if you complete the challenge, you do feel strangely refreshed after.  And you might sleep better too!!
