When heels went out of fashion, sore feet everywhere cheered. Sidewalks sounded different, no more click clack, as sneakers and flats became the new work uniform.
But after years of comfort, the heel is making a comeback. Stella McCartney recent collection, ‘laptop to lapdance’, featured high-heeled boots and bright red kitten heels and The Iconic reports growing heel sales in Australia.
Today’s heel wearers are looking for both height and comfort, thicker soles and shapes that distribute weight better. Shoes that are glamorous but less punishing. The kitten heel, subtle yet stylish, is back.
Fashion is cyclical. Heels may not stick around forever, but when you hear that click clack again, it’s fashion making noise.
