Are you familiar with audio description (AD)? It’s an audio-only version of film and TV that has a narration added to describe important visual information that’s not available from the soundtrack. It describes visual elements happening on screen that sighted people take for granted, such as settings, backgrounds, costumes, and actions.
AD’s targeted at people who are blind or have low vision but can be used by anyone who’s not looking at their screen. It’s like an audio book with a full cast, score and sound effects.
Lu and Charles got the opportunity to speak to AFTRS editing alumni, Alison Myers on the Breakfast show today and learn all about AD. Listen to their chat below:
Alison has made short film about AD called Lobster. Check it out bellow
