Lachie Neale May Request Trade To Dockers

Moments after their heartbreaking semi-final loss to the Western Bulldogs on Saturday night, bombshell reports have emerged that star midfielder Lachie Neale is set to request a trade to the Fremantle Dockers.

Whilst Neale has not yet requested any official trade, reports from Channel Seven have suggested that the move could be motivated by Neale’s wife Julie who is currently pregnant and their desire to raise their child in WA.

The 2020 Brownlow Medal winner began his career at the Fremantle Dockers in 2012 yet was always considered second fiddle to Dual Brownlow Medal Winner Nat Fyfe.

Neale requested a trade to the Brisbane Lions at the conclusion of the 2018 season and has been a vital cog to the Lions premiership tilt in recent seasons.

The report has come as a shock to the Brisbane Lions management, with football manager Danny Daly going on radio to voice his confusion at the recent trade rumours.

“The club will come out and make a statement some time this afternoon once we’ve had a chance to speak to Lachie and work through it” said Daly.

“As far as we’re concerned, he’s got two years of his contract left and that’s where it is at”.

The situation has also turned nasty, with a fake tweet attributed to Lions teammate Mitch Robinson circulating the internet in which he states his displeasure at the rumour.

Robinson has since come out and said the tweet is fake.

The rumour couldn’t come at a worse time for the Lions, who slumped to a 1-5 record in finals since 2019 as a big off-season looms as the club tries to capitalise on its soon closing premiership window.
