The world’s biggest solar thermal plant will be built in Australia

A town 300km north of Adelaide, Port Augusta, is set to get the world’s biggest solar thermal plant. The plant will have the ability to provide 24 hour renewable energy to SA, will create hundreds of regional jobs, cut pollution and put downward pressure on electricity prices.

This news comes after a six year campaign led by the local community and an alliance of environmental groups. Dan Spencer, from Repower Port Augusta, spoke to Ellie on Breakfast this morning about what this means for the community and the climate. Listen here:
