Star Wars Episode IX director sacked for the second time this year

Disney and Lucasfilm have cited “differing visions” in their decision to remove Colin Trevorrow from Star Wars: Episode IX, set to come out in 2019.

This is the second Star Wars project to lose a director this year, after it was announced Oscar-winning director Ron Howard would be taking over from the previous filmmakers on a spin-off movie featuring smuggler Han Solo.

Colin Trevorrow previously created a box office hit with his remake of the Jurassic World movie in 2015.

The next film, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is set to be released in December, following on the tails of The Force Awakens, which snagged more than $2 billion at the box office.
